Comprising 5 members with Tim and Shouwei on guitars, Chin Yuen on bass and backing vocals, Raj on drums and Tyler Von Tsul as vocalist. We aim to have Metallica open for us one day after the release of our multi-platinum debut album.
How did you guys get together?
A love for music and destiny colluded to bring us together. (Actually we just formed on Soft.com a of couple years ago)
What inspires you to create the songs that you do?
Raj and Shouwei are soon to be. We write about things that matter. Sex, crazy lovers and our own egos. Seriously though, we write from our heart about the experiences: pain, getting back up on our feet, life-changing times that we have been through and hope it strikes a chord with our friends/fans.
What do you hope for the audience to imagine or feel when they listen to your songs?
We hope that it takes them back to the time in their own lives when they go through the stuff we do, and come out singing. As we mentioned, it is all from the heart and anyone who has been around long enough will know how life beats you down.
Why do you think fellow Singaporeans can relate to your music?
This tiny island holds a lot of memories and our inspiration for our music, plus we all go through the same pressures here. Many of our songs are about similar struggles of the average Singaporean.
What do you want your audience to take out after watching you perform live?
Energy, guts and courage – to chase their dreams even if the tide is against them.
You've been on a journey with anaki. How have the last 6 months made you feel?
Anaki believes in us more than we believe in ourselves. In our opinion, Anaki is truly the best around. The opportunities are amazing. Giving us the stage and contributing their time and money (which will probably not have an ROI – return on investment. I’m a banker haha). We do hope and believe that Anaki can inspire Singapore to believe more in local music and to eventually show the world the musical talents that tiny Singapore has.
What are your hopes for Singapore circa 2050?
Besides musically, we hope that Singapore could have more avenues for artists out there. Be it painters, musicians, poets, writers. We hope that Singaporeans will have the guts to follow their passions instead of the usual study, earn big bucks, buy flashy things mindset. We hope that Singapore will not just be known for our GDP but also for our deep culture and lifestyle where people truly, live.
